Seller's Description

For sale: Zikra Audio 211 monoblocks

A rare pair of Zikra Audio 211 monoblocks will be available for sale in approximately one month. I’m listing them now for anyone interested in securing a truly unique amplifier and preparing accordingly.

These amplifiers are around 30 years old and were originally part of only two sets ever made. They have been in my possession since 2018.

Originally built with Tango X-10 output transformers, they were later removed as I experimented with Tamura transformers (a personal favorite). The amplifiers will now be fitted with a brand new pair of ISO/Tango FC-40-10 transformers – essentially the modern evolution of the original X-10, with upgraded core materials.

The chassis is stainless steel, with a clean and purposeful layout. The design is fully tube-rectified and DC-coupled throughout, all the way to the 211 output tube. An E188CC drives an E182CC, which in turn is DC-coupled to the 211. The E182CC operates as a cathode driver with a lifted cathode, providing the required negative bias for the 211 – somewhat reminiscent of a Loftin-White approach. Plate voltage is around 1200V.

The power supply is exceptional, built around custom Jensen oil-in-paper capacitors, designed for longevity and stability.

Updated photos will follow once the new transformers are installed and the amplifiers are ready.

This is a rare opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind, high-voltage 211 amplifier with a distinctive design and serious performance potential.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At €10,000, this sits in fair-to-serious territory for a rare pair of 211 mono power amps; without a wider used-price trail on this exact Zikra build, I’d treat it as a solid asking price rather than a bargain. For niche high-power SET-style monoblocks, condition, provenance, and whether they’re ready to run matter as much as the number on the tag.

What makes this interesting is the 211 tube platform itself: big, authoritative, and usually very refined when properly executed, with the kind of scale and tonal density that keeps tube fans hunting these down. The “available in a month” timing also gives a buyer a chance to line up downstream gear and ask the right questions about tubes, servicing, and any included spares before committing.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Zikra Audio

Zikra Audio appears to be a small Danish high-end audio brand built around the work of founder Michael Zingenberg, who has reportedly hand-built tube amplifiers for more than 35 years. The company’s exact founding year is not clearly established in the available sources, but its identity is strongly tied to long-running artisanal amplifier design rather than mass-market manufacturing. That heritage points to a workshop-style operation with deep roots in traditional valve audio.

Zikra Audio is best known for tube-based amplification, including power amplifiers and preamplifiers, with references to designs such as 300B and 211-based models. The brand seems focused almost entirely on amplification rather than a broad catalog of speakers, turntables, DACs, or headphones. In other words, this is a specialist electronics maker, not a full-line hi-fi brand.

In the market, Zikra Audio sits firmly in the niche boutique and ultra-high-end camp. It is the kind of brand that appeals to enthusiasts who value hand-built construction, tube topology, and a distinctly personal approach to engineering. It is not widely distributed or mainstream, which likely enhances its appeal among serious audiophiles seeking distinctive, low-volume products rather than conventional luxury branding.
