Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Asking price is dead-center fair. At EUR 80, this DT 990 Pro lands squarely on your own median comparable—neither a steal nor inflated. The 25th–75th percentile range (EUR 80–90) confirms this is standard market pricing for the model in excellent condition. You're not overpaying, but you're also not catching a discount. These headphones hold value well in the used market, so expect to see similar asking prices across listings.

Before committing, verify the ear pads haven't hardened or cracked—they're the first thing to degrade on these cans and replacement pads run EUR 30–50. Confirm the cable is original and undamaged (the 3.5mm connector can develop intermittent contact issues if abused). Ask the seller directly about age and whether the box and documentation are included; knowing the purchase date helps you assess remaining longevity of the drivers. If it's been stored properly in a dry environment, excellent condition should hold up, but a quick test of both channels at moderate volume will catch any surprises.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Beyerdynamic

Beyerdynamic traces its roots to 1924 Berlin, where engineer Eugen Beyer founded Elektrotechnische Fabrik Eugen Beyer to produce cinema loudspeakers for the dawn of sound films. Born in St. Petersburg in 1903, Beyer relocated amid the Russian Revolution, pioneering dynamic drivers that defined early audio reproduction. Post-World War II destruction forced a rebuild in Heilbronn in 1948, with his son Fred R. Beyer steering the family-owned firm through decades of innovation until its 2025 acquisition by China's Cosonic Intelligent, marking the end of a century-long German heritage.

The brand excels in headphones and microphones, launching the DT 48 in 1937 as the world's first dynamic headphones—a staple for sound engineers until 2012. It expanded into wireless systems, conference tech, and professional monitoring gear, serving studios, broadcast, film, and now gaming. While early efforts included amplifiers and loudspeakers, Beyerdynamic prioritizes transducers over consumer amps, DACs, turntables, speakers, or cables.

Renowned for durable, reference-grade professional audio, Beyerdynamic occupies a solid mid-to-high-end niche, blending accessible pricing with studio precision that appeals to creators and audiophiles. Its century of milestones—from micing royalty to touring icons—cements a reputation for reliability and sonic purity among discerning hi-fi buyers seeking tools that endure.
