Why Choose the Focal JM Lab Chorus 710 Floorstanding Speakers?

The Chorus 710 is well suited to hi‑fi enthusiasts seeking quality vintage loudspeakers with strong, all‑round capability.

• Balanced, Musical Presentation: Natural tonality that suits a wide range of music genres.

• French Acoustic Design: Refined voicing with excellent coherence and imaging.

• Room‑Friendly Floorstander: Provides scale and bass presence without excessive cabinet size.

• Easy System Matching: Works well with both entry‑level and mid‑range amplifiers.

• Excellent Pre‑Owned Value: Proven JM Lab performance at a competitive price point.

Its two‑way bass‑reflex design pairs a single 6.5‑inch Polyglass mid‑bass driver with JM Lab’s signature inverted‑dome titanium tweeter.

This combination provides articulate midrange, crisp yet controlled highs and bass extension that reaches impressively low for a compact floorstander.

Audition the Chorus 710 at our Lane Cove showroom and rediscover the appeal of classic JM Lab design.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

A$650 sits a bit above the median A$600 but still comfortably inside the typical A$463–A$800 spread, so this reads as fair pricing rather than a bargain or an ambitious ask.

That makes it worth a look if the pair is complete and sound, because Focal’s Chorus speakers are generally well-regarded for lively detail, clean midrange, and a punchy, engaging presentation that suits both music and movies. At this price, the main upside is getting a respected, easy-to-enjoy speaker without paying top-of-range money; I’d just want to confirm driver condition, cabinet corners, and that any grilles or stands are included if they matter to you.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Focal

Focal traces its roots to 1979 in Saint-Étienne, France, where engineer and hi-fi enthusiast Jacques Mahul founded the company in a small workshop within his father's precision engineering firm. Initially operating as JMlab, it began crafting bespoke speaker drivers, with early models like the DB13 earning acclaim for their compact yet dynamic bass performance. This heritage of acoustic innovation and French craftsmanship propelled Focal's evolution, marked by pivotal 1990s expansions under Gérard Chrétien's leadership, yielding iconic references such as the Vega and Grande Utopia loudspeakers that redefined audiophile standards.

The brand's core focus remains high-fidelity loudspeakers, where it excels through in-house driver design featuring breakthroughs like inverted-dome tweeters, Polyglass cones, flax diaphragms, and beryllium tweeters in its Utopia line. Focal has diversified into professional studio monitors, premium headphones, car audio systems, and select accessories, all emphasizing noble materials and meticulous engineering. While not delving into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, its speaker-centric portfolio spans home, mobile, and pro applications with unwavering commitment to purity of sound.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Focal commands respect as a world leader among discerning hi-fi buyers for its benchmark performance, international awards, and "Made in France" prestige. No longer a niche boutique, it blends heritage appeal with cutting-edge technology, attracting serious audiophiles who prioritize transparency, dynamics, and emotional depth over mass-market compromises.
