Classic Stax electrostats are always interesting, and this one’s priced a bit above the sweet spot. Based on recent used comps, US$310 for an SR-5/SRD-6 setup is fair-to-slightly-ambitious rather than a steal; I’d expect a cleaner bargain closer to the low US$200s, with nicer/serviced examples sometimes a bit higher.
What you’re buying is a vintage, airy, very fast-sounding electrostatic system that still charms if the drivers are healthy and the adapter is correct. The real upside is musicality and collector appeal, especially if the pads, cable, and energizer are intact and it’s been kept original. At this price, I’d want reassurance on channel balance, crackle-free operation, and whether the earpads and SRD-6 are fully functional.
