Seller's Description

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

The Sennheiser HD 650 remains a reference‑grade open‑back headphone that many still reach for first when tracking or critical listening. At €220, this asking price sits comfortably below the €252 25th‑percentile and the €282 median from recent comparable EUR listings, so it qualifies as a strong deal rather than just a fair one. For a well‑maintained example, that’s clearly below the typical used market for this model in Europe, especially if the pads and cable are in good shape.

What makes this particularly worthwhile is how well the HD 650 still performs: smooth, natural tonality, wide soundstage, and comfortable long‑term wear for a pair that’s easy to drive. If this is a clean, non‑smoker example with original or recently replaced pads and the stock cable, it’s a solid upgrade‑path candidate or a first‑serious‑headphone choice that can outlive many newer designs. At this price, the main risk is missing out rather than buying in.

About Sennheiser

Founded in June 1945 by Dr. Fritz Sennheiser in a farmhouse near Hanover, Germany, Sennheiser began as Laboratorium Wennebostel, producing voltmeters and early microphones amid post-World War II reconstruction. Seven engineers from the University of Hannover joined the founder, quickly pivoting to broadcast microphones like the DM 2 in 1946 and the groundbreaking MD 82 shotgun mic in 1956. Renamed Sennheiser electronic in 1958, the family-owned company passed to second- and third-generation leadership, maintaining its innovative spirit over eight decades.

Sennheiser excels in professional and consumer audio, renowned for microphones, wireless systems, and headphones that set industry standards. Pioneers of the first open-back headphones (HD 414 in 1968) and enduring studio icons like the MD 421 and MD 441, they also produce high-end headphones, earbuds, soundbars, and conferencing solutions. While strong in pro audio like mixers and geophysical gear, their consumer focus centers on headphones and wireless tech rather than amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, or cables.

Sennheiser commands a premium position in the hi-fi market, blending mid-tier accessibility with high-end excellence for discerning buyers and professionals. Trusted for reliability and sonic precision, it appeals to audiophiles seeking reference-grade headphones without boutique obscurity, backed by a heritage of technological firsts that sustains its global leadership.
