Seller's Description

Holton Precision Audio Mono Bloc 500 Supreme Power Amplifier Custom made to order mono block class A/B power amp based on the Supreme 500 stereo amp. https://holtonprecisionaudio.com/   300 Watts RMS into 8 Ω 500 Watts RMS into 4 Ω 800 Watts RMS into 2 Ω   It operates in class A for the first 5 watts or so. Printed circuit boards use the ENIG Gold Immersion. This helps make the amp sound better for longer as it stops oxidisation of the circuit board. Power supply is the same as the stereo 500 supreme except for the size of the toroidal power transformer. In this mono block it is 1200VA.   Made

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Against a plain-jane used power amp at around A$405, this is priced in a completely different league: at A$2,750 it sits well above the A$1,000 75th percentile, so it reads as ambitious, not a bargain. That said, if the seller can substantiate the condition and it’s truly a serious mono-block build, the gap is big enough that buyers should only pay up for a standout example with clear provenance.

Holton’s big monoblocks are usually bought for sheer current delivery, control, and the “effortless” way they handle demanding speakers, so the appeal is easy to understand for someone chasing real headroom. At this level, the upside is strongest if it’s been well cared for, ideally with original packaging, documentation, and evidence of recent servicing; otherwise, you’d want to factor in the risk and cost of a thorough check before committing.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Holton Precision Audio

Holton Precision Audio is an Australian hi-fi brand based in Tasmania, with the company saying it began designing, manufacturing, and selling amplifiers in 1993. It is a specialist outfit rather than a mass-market electronics maker, and its identity is tied closely to hand-built audio engineering and long-running amplifier know-how.

The brand is primarily known for amplifiers and related amplification products, including high-end power amplifiers, amplifier modules, and DIY-oriented components. Its own and third-party descriptions consistently frame Holton as an amplifier-focused company, with little evidence in the available material that it is a broader brand for speakers, turntables, DACs, or headphones.

In market terms, Holton Precision Audio sits in the niche high-end space. It appears aimed at serious hobbyists and audiophiles who value handcrafted construction, performance-focused design, and direct-from-maker credibility, rather than at mainstream buyers. It has some visibility in the DIY and specialist audio community, which suggests a respected but fairly obscure position outside enthusiast circles.
