Compared with buying a DAC or a modest integrated amp at this money, £849 for a NAC 112 on its own is only sensible if it’s a very clean, fully sorted example with provenance. Typical used pricing for the 112 by itself is much lower, and even allowing for the Naim name and supply options, this asks a lot unless the package includes a proper power supply and recent servicing.
What makes the 112 worthwhile is the classic Naim preamp grip and timing: punchy, rhythmic, and very engaging with the right power amp. It’s a respected, “grown-up” stepping stone into the Naim ecosystem, and condition matters more than cosmetics here. If it’s been serviced, has the correct PSU/cables, and is being sold by a careful owner, that helps; otherwise I’d want a bit more detail before paying this level.
