This is a vintage, long-discontinued DAC, so timing matters mainly because condition and service history matter more than “latest spec” here. At US$1,350, it’s a bit above the common used range I’d expect for an SBP-32X, which has recently shown around US$800 to about US$975, so I’d call this ambitious rather than a bargain.
What keeps it interesting is the Krell build and the still-respected sonic reputation: big, authoritative, very clean for its era, with balanced outputs and a serious power-supply/heavy-chassis feel that many modern budget DACs don’t match. If it’s fully working, has been serviced, and the owner can document healthy operation, it’s still a worthwhile buy for someone who values classic Krell sound over features. Without service proof at this price, I’d want to negotiate.
