I bought this table new in 2004 from Renaissance Audio for ~$8,000, and upgraded the platter with the VPI Heavyweight Platter when it became available. I upgraded the tonearm to the new Gimbaled Fatboy 3d printed arm ($3900) when it became available. I also replaced the platter bearing with a sapphire bearing and have enjoyed this player throughout this time.I am only selling because I am no longer listening to analog sources. The table has always performed superbly; it lives up to the outstanding industry reviews in every respect.I'll be selling my Manley preamp and Dynavector XV-1s cartridge (not pictured here) separately as I complete my analog divestiture.Be aware - this table is big and heavy. It will ship in 5 boxes (pictured) and has a larger footprint (25" x 19") than most stereo racks can accommodate. The Table:The HR-X features a triple laminated chassis (Acrylic-Aluminum-Acrylic) that is heavy, rigid, critically damped, and perfect in its mechanical execution. Each layer is machined separately and then assembled with screws and glue and then combined with the corner assemblies to give a rigid perfectly aligned system.A periphery ring clamp centered by the platter, not the record, providing vacuum-like hold down without the problems inherent in a vacuum system.Stainless steel HR-X center weight. The 40 pound separate machined drive system uses two low-powered 24-pole 300 RPM AC synchronous motors driving a 12-pound flywheel. The drive unit is machined from a solid block of aluminum, its accuracy is assured by using only one piece, giving the lowest possible wow and flutter from a belt drive. The flywheel spins at 300 RPM and has 62 times the inertia of a 25 pound platter. The platter is machined from a block of 6061 aluminum and runs on an inverted bearing. The combination of flywheel drive system, inverted bearing, and accuracy of machining leads to extremely low levels of wow, flutter, rumble, and FM distortion. The isolation system built into the feet allow it to be placed very close to 4 -15” woofers with no noticeable effect as long as the stand it is on is stable.25″ W by 8.5″ H by 19″ D (turntable). Weight: 115 lbs.The 12″ 3D Tonearm:Pivot to spindle: 300 mmEffective length: 313.0 mmEffective mass: 10.5g.Overhang: 13mmOffset angle: 17.37 degreesAverage RMS distortion: 0.311%Internal wiring: premium Discovery wire, optional Nordost Reference wire.New design 3d printed one piece body for the ultimate in resonance control.Full length copper shielding tube internallyBuilt in “Easy lift” finger lift.Offset stainless steel counterweight for stabilityEasy setting of VTA/SRA in thousandths of an inch, calibrated and repeatableAdjustable anti-skatePlease be aware that the table will ship in 5 boxes. I will calculate the actual shipping cost before concluding the transaction, and it will not ship cheaply. I have applied the Reverb "flat shipping cost", but this is only an estimate. I will refund any excess shipping amount, if any - I won't know the actual cost until I weigh and buy labels for all 5 boxes. For this reason, local pickup is most definitely preferred!

VPI Industries, founded in 1978 by Harry and Sheila Weisfeld in Cliffwood, New Jersey, emerged from a lifelong audiophile's basement workshop as a quintessential American family enterprise. What began with simple record weights and turntable isolation bases quickly evolved into a benchmark for analog precision, driven by Harry's relentless experimentation and Sheila's steadfast support. By 1981, the HW-16 record cleaning machine marked their first enduring hit, cementing VPI's heritage in the vinyl revival long before it became mainstream.
The brand specializes in high-end turntables, tonearms, phonograph accessories, and record cleaning systems, with iconic models like the TNT, Aries, Scout series, and the Classic 30th Anniversary edition showcasing uncompromising engineering. VPI prioritizes mechanical innovation—unibody designs, advanced platters, and air-bearing arms—over diversification into amplifiers, speakers, DACs, or headphones, maintaining a laser focus on the analog front-end.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, VPI commands respect among discerning audiophiles for delivering reference-grade performance at accessible price points relative to rivals. Now led by Harry's son Mat Weisfeld, the company thrives on its reputation for bulletproof reliability, world-class soundstaging, and U.S.-made craftsmanship, making it a cornerstone choice for serious vinyl enthusiasts seeking timeless excellence.
