Are you comfortable paying collector money, or do you want a great-sounding classic at a sensible used price? At €4,150, this is clearly ambitious for a B226 S; typical fully serviced examples are more like €400–€500, with even strong working units usually nowhere near this level. Unless this is an extraordinary museum-grade piece with documented restoration, the asking price is well beyond the normal used market.
What you’re buying here is one of Revox/Studer’s better-regarded CD players: solid build, serious transport quality, and a no-nonsense, late-80s/early-90s presentation that still has real appeal. In excellent cosmetic shape it can be a lovely enthusiast piece, but at this price the key questions are service history, laser/transport health, remote inclusion, and whether the display and loading mechanism have been properly sorted. If those aren’t exceptional, the premium is very hard to justify.

The brand's product focus centered on high-end analog playback, excelling in reel-to-reel tape recorders like the legendary A77 and B77, which became staples for audiophiles. Revox expanded into complete hi-fi systems, including integrated amplifiers, FM tuners, turntables sourced from partners like Thorens, and loudspeakers manufactured in their Black Forest facilities.
