These are not getting used at all due to twin babies keeping me busy. These were never driven hard and sound great. Timing doesn’t really make or break this one: the R700 is an older, well-regarded generation, and you’re buying into a model that’s already proven rather than something newly superseded. At A$2,000, though, the ask is well above the recent AUD comp set, where the median is A$225 and even the 75th percentile is only A$1,028; that makes this look ambitious, not a fair-market buy.
That said, the R700 is a serious speaker when it’s in clean shape: spacious, refined, and capable of big sound with decent amplification, so there’s real upside if the pair is original, tidy, and fully working. For a listing at this level, I’d want to see strong evidence of condition, drivers, surrounds, and any included grilles/spikes/packing; without that, the premium is hard to justify.
