Seller's Description

Pro-Ject X2 Turntable (Piano Black) + Ortofon 2M Blue Turntable Up for sale is my Pro-Ject X2 Audiophile Turntable in a 8-layer High-Gloss Piano Black finish. This is the original, high-performance unbalanced version (standard RCA). I am the original owner, purchased new in November 2023. It comes fitted with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge approx. 100 hours of use as I had upgraded to a Black (not included). This is a very nice audiophile deck, to me it outperformed the Rega Planar 3 in terms of soundstage and weight, and I personally liked it more than my previous Linn Sondek.I have priced this

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

It's a buyer's market for used Pro-Ject X2 turntables right now, with solid examples routinely trading hands for AUD700-1,000 depending on condition and extras. At AUD700 for an unknown-condition unit, this sits at the lower end of fair—potentially a steal if it's lightly used with the original Sumiko Rainier cartridge intact, but ambitious if it's beat-up or missing bits, given new ones still fetch around AUD2,500.

Before biting, verify the platter bearing for smooth spin (common wear point on these 8.6kg beasts) and check belt tension—replacements are cheap but signal heavier use. Insist on the power supply, counterweight, and full manual; no-box is fine, but faded cosmetics or stylus wear could tank the value fast. Test with your own record to hear for rumble.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Pro-Ject

Pro-Ject Audio Systems traces its roots to 1991 in Austria's Weinviertel region, north of Vienna, where founder Heinz Lichtenegger launched the brand amid the CD revolution. Kicked out of music school as a youth, Lichtenegger channeled his passion for analog sound into affordable, high-quality turntables at a time when vinyl seemed obsolete. His debut Pro-Ject 1, hand-assembled in the Czech Republic, earned rave reviews as a top high-end device, igniting a success story that relocated headquarters to Vienna before returning to Mistelbach in Lower Austria.

The brand excels in turntables, establishing itself as the world's largest and leading producer in that category, while expanding into a full spectrum of hi-fi components since 2000. Offerings include amplifiers, DACs, headphone amps, speakers, cables, and phono stages, all emphasizing essential sound reproduction with durable materials and minimalist design. Manufacturing remains European—primarily in Czechia, Slovakia, and Germany—prioritizing sustainability through local sourcing, short transport, and products built for longevity.

Pro-Ject holds a commanding niche as the go-to for mid-tier audiophiles seeking boutique European craftsmanship without extravagant pricing. Distributed in over 80 countries, it appeals to vinyl revivalists and discerning buyers who value analog purity, innovation, and value-driven performance over flashy excess, cementing its reputation as a pioneer in accessible high-fidelity.
