Holy grail right here, This is the Tascam 414 with varispeed and 4 track recordlong capabilities. This unit was serviced recently and has been tested thoroughly through out my time with it. Every channel works, play back is excellent. It’s been cleaned once a year and there are zero issues. It was used in a closed studio and come with original power supply, manual, box, and packaging. No cracks, no dent, no color damage, the cassette trap door works and is not scratched. The varispeed is working, playback speed is as intended. Tracks and onboard EQ are functioning perfect. Bouncing is easy. The manual is yellowed from age but not ripped. This has stereo outs as well as an effects loop. I started using this machine as a legit recording device and then used for tape loops (with the varispeed it truly is amazing) and now have used it purely for the built in tape preamp. This is a low-if dreamboat. This records very hi-fi when everything is pushed to it’s potential.Check out my page for more gear, cheers!

Tascam is a Japanese professional-audio brand whose roots trace back to TEAC, founded in 1953 by the Tani brothers. The TASCAM name emerged in the late 1960s as TEAC Audio Systems Corporation, and it was formally established in 1971 as TEAC’s U.S. distribution and development arm for recorder products aimed at musicians and studios.
The brand is best known for recorders, mixers, field recorders, multitrack production units, audio interfaces, and related studio gear. Its catalogue has historically centered on practical recording tools rather than lifestyle hi-fi, with strong associations to cassette Portastudios, reel-to-reel machines, and compact pro-audio components.
In the market, Tascam sits in the pro-audio and project-studio space rather than the high-end audiophile tier. Its reputation is built on utility, durability, and value, and some vintage models have become collector favorites, but the brand is not typically positioned as a boutique or luxury hi-fi name.
