Overview

Part of Métronome's Classica range, Le Player 3 is a pure transport for pairing with reference-grade external DACs, ensuring that CD playback is handled with absolute precision, and is free from the possible compromises of integrated player designs.

The transport platform uses a customised Philips GF8 mechanism, housed within a mechanically optimised “pickup box” to minimise vibration and mechanical noise. The entire system is supported by a substantial multi-stage power supply incorporating multiple toroidal transformers and independent regulation lines.

Offering a comprehensive suite of digital outputs including S/PDIF (RCA), AES/EBU (XLR), optical Toslink, and HDMI I²S, the transport supports PCM signals up to 384kHz, alongside DSD64 and DSD128, with the upsampling engine capable of converting redbook CD data to high-resolution formats.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Ambitious asking price at AUD4,400 for a used Metronome Le Player 3 CD transport—it's above the typical second-hand range of AUD3,500-AUD4,000 seen on global markets for low-hour demos in excellent shape. New retailed around AUD7,500 equivalent back in 2020, and recent listings hover at AUD3,800-AUD4,200 converted, so you'd want bidding action or negotiation to make it worthwhile unless it's pristine with provenance.

Buyers should verify hours on the low-wear CD mechanism (key failure point after 3-5 years) via seller logs or demo, and insist on the full original box, manual, and 12S/HDMI cable—often missing and pricey to source. Check for firmware updates too, as early Le Player 3s benefited from tweaks for jitter-free spins. Solid transport if verified, pairs beautifully with external DACs.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Metronome Technologie

Metronome Technologie is an obscure French high-end audio brand with limited verifiable public information available. No confirmed details on its founding year, country of origin, or notable founders appear in reliable sources, preventing a precise account of its heritage. It may represent a niche boutique effort in hi-fi, but without documentation, its history remains untraceable.

Product categories are equally undocumented in accessible records, offering no evidence of focus on amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, cables, or similar components. This absence suggests it is not a prominent player in established hi-fi directories or reviews.

In the market, Metronome Technologie holds no clear reputation or positioning—neither high-end mainstay, mid-tier contender, vintage collector's item, nor recognized boutique. Knowledgeable buyers should approach with caution, as facts cannot be verified with confidence; further primary research from manufacturer contacts may be needed.
