The timing is good only if you want a classic planar and are comfortable buying an older design, because the MG 2.6/R is a long-discontinued model rather than a current one. At €1,250, this looks fair to slightly strong for a clean pair, but not an obvious bargain from the limited used data I can verify; I’d want to see it closer to €1,000–€1,100 before calling it a clear steal.
What makes it worth considering is that the 2.6/R is still well regarded for the big, open Magnepan sound: excellent transparency, spacious imaging, and a very engaging midrange when set up properly. A documented excellent-condition pair is the right kind of buy here, especially if it’s been cared for and stored well. The main thing to confirm is ribbon/speaker integrity and whether any prior repair work has been done, because age-related service needs matter more than cosmetics on these.
