Overview

A high performing but compact loudspeaker that packs a decent punch, the magic of the Akudorik is really the sweet but detailed midrange.

Linn's famous 3K Driver Array is hard at work in the passive Akudorik, housed in a single, solid die-cast chrome chassis you'll find the midrange driver, tweeter and super-tweeter. The benefit of keeping these parts of the signal so close together are obvious from the first listen - the 3K Array sounds very close to the pin-point imaging typical of a dual-concentric driver design. Rounding out the frequency range is a doped paper cone bass driver, based on symmetrical balanced drive technology.

Linn’s speaker cabinets are built from a pressure-formed laminate with a refined looking curved profile.  Carefully placed internal bracing provides added rigidity and an acoustically inert enclosure for stable mounting of the drive units.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a seller’s market for this model: at A$4,300, the asking price sits well above the A$2,284 75th percentile for recent comparable AUD listings, so it’s ambitious rather than fair or sharp. Against a typical market centered on a median of A$783, this is priced at a very heavy premium, so the listing would need unusually strong provenance or extras to justify it.

That said, this is a respected Linn speaker with a serious following for its refined, coherent presentation and easy-to-live-with bookshelf footprint. If it’s clean, fully working, and complete, the upside is in owning a niche, high-quality passive system that can scale nicely with better amplification and placement. At this price, I’d want evidence of condition, originality, and any included stands/grilles/packing before moving—because the real value here depends on how pristine and complete the package is.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Linn

Linn Products: Brand Overview

Linn Products was founded in 1973 by Scottish engineer Ivor Tiefenbrun in Glasgow as a vehicle to manufacture the Sondek LP12 turntable, which would become the company's most iconic product and a cornerstone of high-fidelity audio. The brand emerged during the golden era of British hi-fi with a revolutionary "source first" philosophy—challenging the prevailing industry belief that loudspeakers mattered most by demonstrating that superior sound quality begins with the audio source. This foundational principle has guided the company's engineering ethos for over five decades.

Linn's product portfolio spans the complete hi-fi chain, from turntables and tonearms to preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and loudspeakers. The company introduced the world's first microprocessor-controlled preamplifier and power amplifier in 1985 (the LK1 and LK2), establishing itself as an electronics specialist. From 2007 onward, Linn pivoted toward digital music streaming, becoming an early adopter of network-based audio playback supporting studio master-quality recordings at 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and discontinued CD player production in 2009 to focus on this strategic direction.

Linn occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors for its uncompromising engineering approach and longevity. The brand's reputation rests on meticulous product design, acoustic isolation principles, and a commitment to eliminating weak links in the signal chain—a philosophy that has made Linn one of the most influential manufacturers in hi-fi history and a benchmark for quality-focused audio engineering.
