Overview

The GrandSLAMM cabinet is crafted from a high-density, phenolic resin-based composite. This composite surpasses the most stringent ANSI test standards for its application, offering precise tolerances, exceptional hardness, uniform density, and dimensional stability. Its high hardness not only enhances acoustical properties but also ensures an ideal surface for painting, resulting in a durable and beautiful high gloss finish. The adhesive used in constructing the enclosure is a critical yet often overlooked component. A highly cross-linked, thermo-set adhesive is employed, chosen for its superior bond strength, resistance to solvents, hardness, and optimal vibrational characteristics. This adhesive plays a pivotal role in ensuring the proper performance of the loudspeaker. By harnessing the best composite materials and adhesive technology from industry leaders, we're able to engineer an enclosure that sets the standard for performance.

The design of the GrandSLAMM upper and lower cabinet modules is meticulously crafted to eliminate vibration and cabinet signature while preserving unparalleled internal acoustical integrity. Additionally, the GrandSLAMM loudspeaker boasts over 1,450 constraining relationships that precisely define the placement of more than 550 parts. These relationships guarantee both dimensional stability and repeatability, maintaining consistent excellence.

These structural elements culminate in Wilson Audio's ability to deliver products that adhere to the strictest structural tolerances, offering unrivaled durability and reliability. This translates to consistent and repeatable performance, impervious to climatic variations, regardless of location worldwide.

About Wilson Audio

Wilson Audio: American High-End Loudspeaker Pioneer

Wilson Audio Specialties was founded in 1974 by David A. Wilson and his wife Sheryl Lee Wilson in Provo, Utah. The company emerged from humble beginnings in a garage, where David Wilson—a recording engineer and founder of the Wilson Audiophile record label—initially modified turntables and later built speakers to better evaluate his own recordings. His early experimentation with driver positioning led to a foundational patent on mechanical time-alignment technology, a principle that remains central to Wilson Audio's design philosophy across five decades of loudspeaker innovation.

The brand is exclusively focused on loudspeaker design and manufacturing, with no involvement in amplifiers, DACs, headphones, or cables. Wilson Audio's product lineage traces from the legendary WAMM (Wilson Audio Modular Monitor) in 1980 through iconic designs like the WATT and Puppy to contemporary flagships including the Sabrina, Alexx, and Chronosonic XVX. The company is renowned for its proprietary cabinet materials and construction techniques developed to minimize resonances, reflecting an uncompromising engineering approach refined over generations.

Wilson Audio occupies the ultra-premium tier of the high-end audio market, commanding some of the world's most expensive speaker prices. The brand's reputation rests on meticulous craftsmanship, acoustic precision, and a commitment to sonic truth rooted in David Wilson's recording engineering background. Under the leadership of his son Daryl Wilson—who became CEO in 2016—the company continues to set benchmarks in music reproduction, maintaining its position as a cornerstone of serious audiophile culture.
