Like new at A$550, this looks a touch under fair used value for an ND7 in Australia, where new stock is around A$999 and even open-box used pieces typically don’t fall dramatically unless they’re near end-of-life. For a clean cartridge with no stylus wear, that’s a solid buy rather than a bargain-bin price.
What makes it worthwhile is the ND7’s reputation: it’s one of Rega’s best MM designs, with excellent tracking, punchy timing, and a very refined, detailed top end without sounding fussy. If it’s genuinely lightly used and includes the original packaging, alignment hardware, and has a known low-hours history, the value is strong. The main thing to confirm is stylus hours, since that matters far more than cosmetic “like new” wording on cartridges.
