Overview

Bi-Axis Controlled, Dynamic Balance Type Tone Arm

The MKII version of the Dynavector DV 507 tonearm builds upon the highly regarded original model, which has maintained its reputation among audiophiles since its debut in 1984. Featuring a bi-axis inertia-controlled design, the DV 507 MkII ensures precise groove tracking regardless of cartridge type while providing exceptional trackability even on warped records. The result is remarkable resolution and musical detail, making it a superior choice for high-fidelity vinyl playback.

Advanced Engineering and Key Features

The DV 507 MkII benefits from high-precision stainless steel bearings, delivering superb dynamic sensitivity and long-term tracking stability. A non-contact electro-magnetic damping system, powered by Neodymium magnets, effectively minimizes arm resonance, preventing signal distortion and improving overall performance. A redesigned headshell with an EIA-standard plug-in connector ensures excellent contact reliability, while pure 6N lead wires enhance signal purity. The high-quality arm cable employs a DIN-standard 5-pin connector and hybrid shielding for noise-free transmission. Additionally, an enlarged arm lift ensures smooth operation and prolonged durability.

Bi-Axis Inertia Control and Tracking Performance

Unlike conventional gimbal-type tonearms, which have equal inertia in both horizontal and vertical planes, the DV 507 MkII features a bi-axis inertia separation system. This design allows for high inertia in horizontal movement to stabilize low-frequency signals while maintaining low vertical inertia for precise tracking of warped records. By balancing these forces effectively, the tonearm ensures accurate signal reproduction and superior tracking ability. A dynamic damper further reduces unwanted resonances, particularly in the mid-low frequency range, enhancing clarity and sound fidelity.

Precision Adjustments and Easy Installation

The DV 507 MkII offers user-friendly adjustments, including a height-adjusting lever for precise Vertical Tracking Angle (VTA) control and a calibrated dial for tracking force adjustments via a dynamic balance spiral spring mechanism. The anti-skating force is adjustable even during playback. Despite its advanced bi-axis design, the overall length of the DV 507 MkII has been reduced, making installation straightforward on most turntables. With its combination of cutting-edge engineering and refined usability, the DV 507 MkII continues Dynavector’s legacy of excellence in tonearm design

About Dynavector

Dynavector is a Japanese analog specialist founded in 1974 by Dr. Noboru Tomonari, a mechanical engineering professor who brought precision engineering expertise to high-fidelity audio. Based in Japan, the company has maintained continuous operation for over five decades under the leadership of Tomonari's son, Taro, following the founder's death in 2003. This lineage of technical rigor and commitment to analog reproduction defines the brand's identity and philosophy.

The company is renowned exclusively for moving coil phono cartridges and tonearms—products that sit at the intersection of mechanical engineering and analog playback. Dynavector's cartridge portfolio spans multiple series, from the entry-level 10X5 to the premium KARAT line, which pioneered the use of gemstone cantilevers (diamond and ruby) beginning in 1979. The company also manufactures the acclaimed DV 507 tonearm, a bi-axis design introduced in 1984. Dynavector's engineering innovations include proprietary coil-winding techniques for high-output moving coils and advanced annealing processes that enhance magnetic permeability.

Dynavector occupies a distinctive position as a high-end boutique manufacturer with strong credibility among serious analog enthusiasts. The brand is respected for delivering measurable sonic improvements through rigorous design rather than marketing hype, and it has successfully democratized moving coil technology by offering high-output variants that work with standard MM inputs. While positioned at the premium end of the market, Dynavector maintains accessibility across price points, earning particular loyalty from collectors and music lovers seeking authentic analog reproduction backed by decades of specialized expertise.
