Seller's Description

Hypex Nilai 500 Stereo Power Amplifier For sale is a Hypex Nilai Stereo 500 power amplifier. I purchased this as a DIY kit in June 2025. It has had between 200 and 300 hours usage - so it's 'burnt in' but also near-new. There are no marks on the unit and is functionally 100%. I have had zero issues with it since the start. I am selling because of living circumstances, and the need to simplify my audio set-up—going down the integrated amp path. The Nilai has an inky black, dead-silent background. It produced some of the deepest, tightest bass I have heard, with smooth, neutral and balanced mid-

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Is A$1,450 a steal for this Hypex Nilai 500 stereo power amp? Absolutely—it's a clear bargain against our recent comps, where the median used asking price sits at AUD$1,888 (25th percentile AUD$1,888, 75th AUD$2,165). Hypex modules like this hold strong value in the second-hand market thanks to their Class D efficiency and clean power delivery, often fetching well above AUD$1,800 in good shape, so this undercuts the norm without red flags on condition.

Before biting, verify the amp's hours of use and service history—Hypex units can suffer from power supply cap wear after 5+ years, leading to hum or dropout. Confirm it includes the original PSU, IEC cable, and binding posts intact; missing bits could mean extra outlay. Test for channel balance at full tilt to rule out any module quirks.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Hypex

Hypex Electronics, founded in 1996 in the Netherlands, emerged from the live sound sector with plate amplifiers for loudspeakers before pivoting to hi-fi applications. Key innovator Bruno Putzeys developed the Universal class D (UcD) technology, patented through Philips, which propelled the company's early reputation for efficient, high-performance amplification. From modest origins supplying subwoofer modules and multichannel units with active crossovers, Hypex quickly gained traction among studio and audiophile manufacturers seeking superior class-D solutions.

The brand specializes in class-D power amplifier modules, power supplies, DSP solutions, and plate amplifiers, powering active speakers across hi-fi, high-end, and pro audio markets. Iconic lines like UcD and later NCore® deliver ultra-low distortion and exceptional efficiency, setting benchmarks for measured and subjective performance. While not producing complete speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, Hypex modules form the backbone of systems from major OEM brands and enable DIY enthusiasts through Hypex Direct kits.

Hypex holds a commanding niche as a world-leading supplier in the high-end class-D segment, trusted by discerning audiophiles and professionals who demand uncompromising sound quality without traditional amp compromises. Its modules outperform legacy designs in efficiency and fidelity, positioning Hypex as the go-to for boutique builders and premium integrations, with production now in Malaysia to meet global demand.
