ENERGY Connoisseur C-6 Floorstanding Loudspeakers Heavily built (around 38kg) these are also the glossiest speakers (on all sides) I've ever owned. Lively sound and gorgeous looks have made it hard for me to part with them but needs must when the new hobby (motorbikes) and the devil drives. I have a plenty of pairs of speakers and some must go to help fund my next Honda! Great sound, no grilles (who needs 'em anyway?) and I have no cartons for them so any thoughts of getting them freighted might depend on getting some friendly help from other members. A$550 is a touch above the median A$426, but still comfortably inside the normal used range; it’s a fair ask, not a bargain-basement price. It sits well below the 75th percentile A$648, so it does not look ambitious on the face of it.
That makes sense for a respected old-school floorstander like this: the appeal is in its straightforward, lively presentation and easy-to-place full-range sound, which can still be very satisfying if the drivers and cabinets are healthy. At this price, I’d mainly want confirmation of original drivers, intact surrounds, and clean tweeter output; if it’s been well kept and auditionable, it’s a solid buy opportunity.
