Wegens overstap naar actieve luidsprekers. Fantastische luidsprekers van het high-end merk avalon.de kleinste telg uit de staande luidspreker serie maar toch destijds bijna 10.000 Gulden voor een paar
€500 is a strong buy if this is truly an Avalon Symbol in working condition; comparable used examples I found are around €1,225, so this sits well below the usual market level. That makes it look like a bargain rather than a merely fair price, assuming the cabinets, drivers, and crossover are intact.
The Symbol line is well regarded for a refined, compact floorstander presentation: open mids, clean imaging, and a “big speaker” sense of scale without needing massive floor space. For a buyer, the upside is getting Avalon’s build and voicing at a low entry point; the main thing to verify is condition, because with older high-end speakers the real value depends on driver health, finish quality, and whether both speakers are matched and complete.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Avalon Acoustics traces its origins to the mid-1980s in the United States, with production of its pioneering Ascent model commencing in 1986. Founded by Charles Hansen—who later established Ayre Acoustics—the brand emerged from a passion for music reproduction, drawing on the expertise of engineers, musicians, and recording professionals. Based in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Avalon has upheld a heritage of meticulous craftsmanship over four decades, pioneering innovations like deep cabinet bevels for superior acoustic performance and dynamic energy transfer.[web:1][web:5][web:6][web:7]
The company specializes exclusively in high-end loudspeakers, spanning compact monitors to towering floorstanders. Renowned for their vanishingly low distortion, pinpoint imaging, and neutrality that rivals mini-monitors even in flagship models, Avalon's transducers prioritize musicality through bespoke driver development, precision cabinetry, and advanced 3D soundstaging. Legacy lines like the Precision Monitors embody milestones in detail recovery and fidelity, while eschewing diversification into amplifiers, DACs, or accessories.[web:1][web:3]
Positioned firmly in the ultra-high-end market, Avalon commands respect among discerning audiophiles for reference-level performance and build quality rivaling six-figure icons like Magico and Rockport. Its speakers deliver source fidelity with extraordinary standards, earning iconic status without widespread hype, appealing to buyers seeking boutique excellence over mass appeal.[web:2][web:3]
