A Primare SPA22 at A$5,711 is on the ambitious side for a used AV pre/pro unless it’s exceptionally clean, fully boxed, and comes with the right accessories. I can’t benchmark it tightly from the title alone, but for an older, specialist Primare processor, that asking price feels more like top-of-market than an easy buy.
What makes it worthwhile is Primare’s usual strengths: refined, clean-sounding processing, solid build, and a proper “serious hi-fi” feel rather than mass-market home-theatre fluff. If the unit is original-owner, well cared for, and includes remote, calibration mic, and manuals, that helps. At this price, I’d want confirmation that all channels, HDMI switching, and firmware behavior are spot-on, because with older processors the value is in condition and completeness as much as the badge.
