Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This looks like a strong deal: at A$2,600, it lands below the A$2,701 25th percentile and just under the A$2,801 median for recent comparable AUD listings. In other words, you’re paying slightly less than the current typical ask, not chasing a premium. For a Dynaudio Contour S3.4, that’s a very sensible entry point if the pair is complete and functioning properly.

The appeal here is easy to understand: this is a respected, full-bodied floorstander with Dynaudio’s usual strengths in tonal balance, refinement, and controlled bass, and it still has real endgame credibility for many systems. At this price, I’d mainly be checking condition, driver health, and whether the original grilles/spikes are included, but there’s no obvious reason to be wary just from the number. If they’re clean and untouched, this is the sort of listing that rewards a quick decision.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Dynaudio

Dynaudio is a Danish loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1977 in Skanderborg by acoustic engineers Wilfried Ehrenholz and Mark Thorup, alongside co-founder Ivan Scarning Geard. The company emerged from a conviction that off-the-shelf speakers of the era failed to reproduce music authentically. From its inception, Dynaudio has maintained vertical integration, designing and manufacturing its own drivers rather than sourcing components externally—a practice that remains central to the brand's identity and quality control.

The company specializes exclusively in loudspeakers and speaker systems across two primary markets: high-fidelity consumer audio and professional studio monitoring. Dynaudio's consumer division produces reference-grade speakers for discerning listeners, while its professional subsidiary, Dynaudio Acoustics, manufactures studio monitors installed in more than ten thousand recording studios worldwide. The brand has earned particular distinction as a reference monitor choice for BBC Radio & Music, underscoring its credibility in professional environments.

Dynaudio occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, positioning itself among premium manufacturers rather than mass-market producers. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising engineering philosophy—prioritizing authentic driver design over superficial aesthetics—and consistent innovation in loudspeaker technology. Since its acquisition by Chinese electronics company Goertek in 2014, Dynaudio has maintained its Danish heritage and manufacturing practices while expanding its global reach. For knowledgeable buyers, Dynaudio represents a convergence of Scandinavian design sensibility, technical rigor, and professional-grade performance in the consumer hi-fi space.
