Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Should you call €409 a bargain for this pair of floorstanding Nubert nuBox 483s? Absolutely—this is a strong deal, sitting well below the typical used market range of €500–€650 for a pair in excellent condition, and comfortably under the 25th percentile. The original pair price was €558 in 2020, and today’s asking price of €409 represents real value for a well-regarded, compact 2-way bassreflex speaker known for surprising low-end extension and clean midrange.

These speakers are prized for their balanced sound, 87 dB sensitivity, and ability to go deeper than many similarly sized competitors, often without needing active bass management. Listed as excellent condition, likely from an original owner, with no mentioned flaws or missing accessories, this pairing offers a clean buying opportunity for small-room enthusiasts seeking quality German engineering at a genuine discount.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Nubert

Nubert electronic GmbH traces its roots to a garage in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, where Günther Nubert began crafting loudspeakers to his exacting standards in the early 1970s. On January 10, 1975, he formally founded the company, marking the birth of a brand synonymous with honest, uncolored audio reproduction. What started as a passion project quickly evolved into a nationwide phenomenon, fueled by word-of-mouth praise and the debut of iconic models like the 388, 471, 551, and the distinctive omnidirectional nuPyramide. Still under Günther Nubert's leadership as owner and chief developer, the company has maintained family-run independence for over 50 years.

Nubert's product lineup centers on loudspeakers, from passive floorstanders and bookshelves in series like Numero to active systems and powerful soundbars that punch above their weight in home theater performance. Since introducing its first in-house amplifier in 2005, the brand has expanded into integrated electronics, emphasizing neutral signal fidelity across music and film playback. While not venturing into turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, Nubert prioritizes direct-sales models that deliver high-value engineering without retail markups.

Renowned as a pioneer of Germany's direct-to-consumer hi-fi model since 1995—which drove 40% annual growth amid a shrinking market—Nubert occupies a solid mid-to-high-tier position. Selling around 15,000 pairs yearly at its peak, it appeals to discerning buyers seeking robust, made-in-Germany performance over flashy aesthetics, earning a loyal following for transparent sound that lets source material shine unaltered.
