The timing is a little awkward: this is an older, discontinued-era phono stage, and Musical Fidelity’s later MX-VYNL is the newer reference point, so you’re buying on performance and condition rather than future-proofing. At £517, the ask looks fair to slightly strong against the model’s original roughly £800-class new price, but not out of line for a respected, well-featured phono stage if it’s clean and fully working.
That’s the appeal here: the M1 ViNL is well regarded for its flexible MM/MC loading, selectable RIAA/IEC curve, and generally serious, audiophile-grade sound rather than “budget box” behaviour. It’s especially worthwhile if you need cartridge-matching flexibility and want a unit from a strong brand with a good reputation. At this price, I’d mainly want confirmation of condition, original power supply, and that all the switches and sockets behave properly.
