Seller's Description

B&O Beogram TX2 Linear Tracking Turntable for Restoration/Parts/etc.This unit is a great candidate for restoration. It is in very nice physical condition & has a working MMC2 cartridge. Unfortunately, it does not engage when you hit play. When you hit play the 33 or 45 lights up, but in about 5-7 seconds it shuts itself off.Cartridge is tested and working.Dust cover has very light wear and works great.Platter spins just fine.Linear tracking arm moves freely (also when you manually turn the gear inside it moves as it should with very little resistance).RCAs are good.In the Milwaukee Area? Our Thoughts RADAR AI

US$200 is fair to slightly strong for a Beogram TX2, not a steal but not a stretch either. The original UK pricing places it in the premium compact-turntable tier, and today’s used market for these usually lands around the low-to-mid US$100s to US$200s depending on condition and cartridge, so this asking price sits close to the middle of the pack rather than at bargain level.

It’s worth buying because the TX2 is a well-regarded tangential B&O deck: elegant, compact, electronically controlled, and known for good speed stability and light, record-friendly tracking. The big upside is if it’s complete, working properly, and includes a healthy MMC cartridge, because those are the value drivers. At this price, I’d want confirmation that the transport, tonearm movement, and cartridge output are all solid, since the table is attractive precisely when it’s plug-and-play.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Bang & Olufsen

Bang & Olufsen was founded on November 17, 1925, in Struer, Denmark, by engineers Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen. The company began in the attic of the Olufsen family manor, Quistrup, where the founders developed The Eliminator—a revolutionary device that allowed radios to operate from mains electricity rather than batteries. This innovation established B&O as a forward-thinking manufacturer and set the tone for nearly a century of technological advancement rooted in Danish design principles.

The brand is primarily known for premium audio and home entertainment systems, including high-fidelity receivers, radiograms, cassette recorders, and contemporary loudspeakers. B&O pioneered several category firsts: the world's first button-operated receiver in the 1930s and Europe's first cassette recorder, the Beocord-84U, in the 1950s. Today, the company manufactures integrated audio systems, wireless speakers, and headphones that blend acoustic engineering with sculptural industrial design.

Bang & Olufsen occupies the luxury segment of the audio market, positioned as a premium lifestyle brand rather than a specialist audiophile manufacturer. The company's reputation rests on its distinctive philosophy of merging form and function—treating audio equipment as crafted objects designed to enhance living spaces aesthetically. Recognized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and maintained as a visionary enterprise for over a century, B&O appeals to discerning consumers who value Scandinavian design sensibility alongside sonic performance.
