This is a well-reviewed 9.2 receiver with Audyssey XT32, Atmos, networking, 225 watts of clean power, 4K switching and pretty much every extra you can shake a stick at. Timing matters a bit here because this is a mature, feature-rich AVR from the X4400H generation, not a current model, so value depends on condition and price rather than freshness. At A$1,000, it sits just below the A$1,033 median of the recent AUD comps and inside the normal A$871–A$1,194 spread, so this reads as fair to slightly attractive, not a bargain—but definitely not ambitious.
What makes it worth a look is that the X4400H is still a very capable all-rounder: strong HDMI switching, full Atmos/DTS:X-era feature set, and enough power and processing to anchor a serious home cinema or mixed stereo/theatre system. An excellent condition example is the right way to buy one of these, especially if it’s been well cared for and comes with the original remote and calibration mic; if those are present, this is a solid, sensible buy for someone wanting Denon performance without paying for newer branding.
