Seller's Description

Cambridge Audio Audio Stream Magic 6 v2 Streamer (Music) For sale is the very well-known Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 (v2), precursor to the CXN series. Great flexibility in terms of digital inputs, and quality performers in the pair of Wolfson WM8740 DACs. I picked it up here on SNA about three years ago, and it's been a great (and very consistent) part of my system. It's in great condition, except for a surface mark on it's "roof" (presumably from a previous piece of equipment, see 3rd photo).   For streaming, I was running a Roon Rock NUC through it into my Yamaha pre-amp (SE), as well as

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This A$420 asking price is ambitious for a used Cambridge Audio STREAM MAGIC 6, sitting well above the median of A$343 and the 75th percentile of A$370 from recent AUD listings. While one external AUD listing shows A$280, that figure falls near the 25th percentile (A$289), confirming that A$420 represents a significant premium over the current used market for this model.

The Stream Magic 6 remains a well-regarded all-in-one unit, praised for combining a high-quality DAC, network streamer, and digital preamp into a single chassis with versatile inputs including USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. It excels at streaming services like Spotify Connect and handling high-resolution files up to 24-bit/384 kHz. Given the price is above median, a buyer should verify the condition is pristine, confirm all original accessories are included, and ensure the unit has no connectivity issues before committing to this higher-end ask.

About Cambridge Audio

Cambridge Audio emerged from the innovative spirit of 1960s Britain, founded in Cambridge, United Kingdom, by a group of young engineers who spun off from Cambridge Consulting Group. Established in 1968, the brand launched with the groundbreaking P40 integrated amplifier—the first to employ a toroidal transformer, setting a new standard for dynamic power delivery in hi-fi design that endures in high-end gear today. This heritage of British engineering excellence propelled decades of award-winning products, navigating ownership changes including a revival under entrepreneur Vince Adams and acquisition in 1994 by Julian Richer and James Johnson-Flint of Richer Sounds.

The brand excels across core hi-fi categories, renowned for integrated amplifiers like the iconic A1 and P-series, alongside streaming DACs, network players, turntables, and all-in-one systems that prioritize pure analogue warmth and digital precision. Speakers, headphones, and cables round out a cohesive ecosystem, emphasizing accessible high performance without excess frills.

Positioned firmly in the mid-tier market, Cambridge Audio delivers premium British sound—detailed, rhythmic, and uncolored—at prices that democratize quality for discerning buyers. Free from corporate bloat, it holds a reputation for reliability and value, appealing to enthusiasts seeking sophisticated hi-fi that punches above its weight rather than chasing ultra-high-end esoterica.
