Audio Innovations emerged in 1984 from Brighton, England, founded by Peter Qvortrup and Erik Andersson with a mission to democratize valve amplification. Their debut offerings, the 800 Series power amplifier and matching preamplifier, embodied a commitment to affordable high-quality tube gear, aiming to place one in every home. This British heritage rooted the brand in the valve revival of the 1980s, blending craftsmanship with accessibility.

The company focused primarily on valve amplifiers, expanding into preamplifiers, kits, and even a transistor model with a quasi-complementary output stage. While not diversifying into speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, their core strength lay in robust, user-friendly tube designs that prioritized musicality over extravagance.

Audio Innovations held a solid mid-tier position in the high-end hi-fi market during its active years, earning praise for reliable, value-driven valve amps among enthusiasts. Acquired by Audio Components in 1991 and later by Audio Partnership in 1996, the brand shifted toward budget lifestyle systems sold via UK retailer Richer Sounds, diluting its original prestige. Today, it survives more as a vintage collector's item than a current contender.
