Dunlavy is a high-end American audio brand founded in Colorado by physicist and audio pioneer John Dunlavy, who previously worked for the Australian high-end speaker manufacturer Duntech in the 1980s before establishing his own company, Dunlavy Audio Labs, in the 1990s. The brand originated from Dunlavy’s radical belief that loudspeakers should prioritize truthfulness over mere visual impressiveness, applying rigorous acoustics principles to achieve time-aligned and phase-coherent sound.

The company is exclusively known for its loudspeakers, with no notable production of amplifiers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables. Its speaker designs are celebrated for their scientific approach to minimizing distortion and preserving phase integrity, resulting in what critics in the 1990s described as “sheer musicality”. Signature models like the SC-IV Signature Collection exemplify the brand’s commitment to precision engineering and audiophile-grade performance.
