Musikelectronic Geithain (ME Geithain) traces its roots to May 1960, when Joachim Kiesler and two watchmakers founded a production cooperative in Geithain, Germany, a small town southeast of Leipzig. The company survived East Germany's nationalization in 1972, operating as VEB Musikelectronic Geithain before Kiesler and colleagues successfully reclaimed private ownership in 1992 following reunification. This remarkable continuity through political upheaval distinguishes ME Geithain as one of the few Eastern German audio manufacturers to emerge intact from the Cold War era.

ME Geithain specializes exclusively in high-end loudspeakers and studio monitors, a focus refined since the early 1980s. The company is renowned for proprietary coaxial and bass cardioid driver technologies paired with active amplifier electronics, all designed and manufactured in-house.
