Gradient

Gradient is a Finnish hi-fi brand founded in 1984 by Jorma Salmi, who had earlier worked in acoustics and electronics at Lohja Corporation Electronics and Nokia-related roles. The company’s identity has been built around loudspeaker engineering from the start, rather than broad consumer-electronics production.

Gradient is best known for loudspeakers and related speaker electronics, especially designs aimed at performing well in ordinary living rooms. Its lineup has included floorstanding and open-baffle speakers, and more recently products such as an active crossover/power amplifier have appeared, but speakers remain the core of the brand.

In the market, Gradient sits as a niche, high-end specialist rather than a mass-market audio name.
