Jern speakers hail from Denmark, where the brand emerged from the foundry expertise of Dansk Skalform A/S, established in 1975 by engineering graduate Holger Dissing. Renowned for precision castings in industries like automotive—supplying clients such as Rolls-Royce, Porsche, and McLaren—the company pivoted to hi-fi under Holger's son, Søren Dissing, an audiophile who envisioned speakers molded from solid iron. Collaborating with acoustics expert Ole Lund Christensen, formerly of GamuT amplifiers and prestigious studios like PUK, Jern launched in 2016, translating "iron" directly from Danish to underscore its unconventional material heritage.

The brand specializes exclusively in loudspeakers, crafting compact standmount and floorstanding models from one-piece cast-iron enclosures. These employ proprietary CDS (Cast Dome Structure) technology, with internal hexagonal domes to eliminate standing waves, and Vibrakill grey cast iron infused with graphite for superior vibration damping—claimed to outperform aluminum, MDF, or wood by orders of magnitude.
