MAG-LEV Audio

MAG-LEV Audio is a Slovenian audio company founded in 2016, emerging from Ljubljana’s design and engineering community. The brand was led by co-founders including Davorin Furlan, Tomaž Pegan and industrial designer Dejan Kos, and gained international attention through crowdfunding before establishing production in Nova Gorica.

Rather than offering a broad catalogue of electronics, MAG-LEV Audio is known primarily for the ML1, a magnetic-levitation turntable introduced as the world’s first production record player with a floating platter. Its design combines magnetic suspension, electronic platter control and a sculptural, integrated plinth, with playback at 33 and 45 rpm. The company is not principally associated with amplifiers, loudspeakers, DACs, headphones or cables.

MAG-LEV occupies a distinctive niche between high-end analogue audio and industrial design. The ML1 is a premium, statement-making product aimed at vinyl enthusiasts who value engineering theatre and visual originality as much as conventional component discretion. Its limited product range and unusual technology make it a boutique brand rather than a mainstream hi-fi manufacturer. Company status and ongoing availability should be checked carefully, however, as MAG-LEV entered receivership in 2021.
