Reed emerged from Lithuania's burgeoning hi-fi scene, rooted in the ingenuity of radio engineer Vidmantas Triukas. With experience in hi-fi since 1985 and expertise in acoustic engineering—including patented inventions in ultrasound and noise transmission—he built an early audio system featuring a turntable, speakers, and amplifier in 1987. Showcased at the USSR's premier technical exhibition in Moscow, it marked the start of his lifelong passion. After a detour into other ventures post-1990s, Triukas revived his audio pursuits in 2007, launching Reed as a boutique operation with just five employees dedicated to analog excellence.

The brand specializes in precision tonearms and turntables, blending engineering rigor with aesthetic flair. Signature models like the 1H, 2G, and 3P radial tonearms come in lengths from 9.5 to 12.5 inches, often with wooden arm wands crafted from premium materials such as carbon fiber and stainless steel. These components prioritize minimal distortion, superior tracking, and lightweight rigidity, elevating vinyl playback without venturing into amplifiers, speakers, or digital gear.

Reed holds a niche position in the high-end market, revered by audiophiles for handcrafted quality that fuses scientific precision—drawn from Triukas's "rocket science" background—with artistic design. Distributed through specialists like Absolute Sounds in the UK, it appeals to discerning vinyl enthusiasts seeking transformative upgrades over mass-market options, earning praise for durability, sound purity, and visual allure.
