Vivid Audio emerged in 2001 when Laurence Dickie, the acclaimed designer behind Bowers & Wilkins' legendary Nautilus speaker and Matrix system, partnered with Philip Guttentag—introduced via former B&W president Robert Trunz—to launch the brand. Based in South Africa, the company established its manufacturing facility there, producing its first models, the B1 and K1 loudspeakers, in 2004.
