The Falcon Acoustics IMF ALS 40 has real collector appeal, and A$2,000 is fair to mildly ambitious rather than a bargain. Without solid used-market percentiles for this exact model, I’d treat it as a price that should be justified by exceptional condition, provenance, or a fully sorted restoration.
If it’s clean, original, and working properly, it can still be a worthwhile buy: these are the kind of classic IMF-derived speakers people keep for their scale, roomy presentation, and easy listenability. The real upside is for an owner who values the vintage design and wants a well-preserved example; if it’s been recapped, refoamed, or comes with original grilles/docs, that helps a lot.
