Seller's Description

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At €500, this Canton GLE 100 is a strong bargain, landing well below the 25th percentile of €531 and the median of €563 from recent EUR listings. New, these tower speakers once cost €779, making €500 a sharp entry point for a three-way bass-reflex design that delivers 90.5 dB sensitivity and extends its tweeter to 40 kHz off-axis. This price is simply excellent for the value.

The GLE 100 is well-regarded for its driver complement and high-end performance at an affordable tier, featuring a 174 mm midrange and robust bass reflex tuning. Buying now at €500 offers meaningful upside: you secure a well-loved, original-owner condition pair without the premium of newer models or the risk of higher-priced comps. With no material caveats at this price and condition noted as good, this is a clear buying opportunity for an enthusiast seeking genuine hi-fi performance.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Canton

Canton traces its roots to 1972, when four hi-fi enthusiasts—Hubert Milbers, Otfried Sandig, Wolfgang Seitkritt, and Günther Seitz—founded the company in the small German town of Weilrod, near Frankfurt. Registering the name as a blend of the Latin "cantare" (to sing) and German "Ton" (musical tone), they began operations in a repurposed village schoolhouse with 35 employees assembling speaker enclosures. Still family-owned and led by descendants like Günther Seitz, Canton embodies enduring German engineering precision, manufacturing primarily in Niederlauken and Weilrod.

The brand focuses squarely on loudspeakers, offering over 300 models across 12 series tailored to diverse budgets, room sizes, and applications—from compact bookshelf designs and the pioneering 1979 sub/sat system to high-end Reference lines and wireless innovations. While speakers dominate, Canton also produces complementary hi-fi components, blending traditional cabinetry with digital amplification advancements, all subjected to rigorous quality controls.

Positioned as a mid-to-high-end mainstay in the global hi-fi market, Canton commands respect for its "pure music" philosophy, exporting to 53 countries with a reputation for reliable, elegant performance that appeals to discerning buyers seeking value without compromise. Independent of corporate conglomerates, it remains a smart, appreciating investment for audiophiles valuing Made-in-Germany craftsmanship.
