Seller's Description

VAF DC-2 Bookshelf Loudspeakers I have three(3) VAF DC-2 loudspeakers in Cherry finish.  Have owned these since new and they have sen service in three home theater setups as rear speakers. They are generally in excellent condition however as they have been mounted there are some screw holes on the rear of each one, and on two there are similar holes on the one side. Pictures hopefully make this clear.  It's an easy fix if you're so inclined but maybe not an issue depending on the use case. These were $600 each back in the day, and are fantastic sounding speakers in their own right.   Info here

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

A$300 is a strong bargain against your benchmark: it sits well below the A$475 25th percentile and miles under the A$3,050 median, so this is priced like a quick, low-risk buy rather than a “wait and see” listing. For a well-kept pair at the excellent end of condition, that’s exactly the sort of gap that rewards a buyer who knows the brand and wants to move fast.

The appeal here is straightforward: these are the kind of compact VAF monitors that enthusiasts chase for their clean, coherent presentation and easy placement in a proper stereo setup. At this price, the upside is in getting a respected local hi-fi speaker at a tiny fraction of typical used-market asking levels, especially if the cabinets are tidy and the drivers are original. Just confirm the surrounds, grilles, and terminals are all in order before you commit.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About VAF Research

VAF Research was founded in 1978 in Adelaide, Australia, by serial entrepreneur Philip Vafiadis, establishing it as a enduring Australian stalwart in the hi-fi industry. From modest beginnings, the company has remained a private, family-driven operation, steadfastly committed to in-house design and manufacturing. Over four decades, VAF has cultivated a heritage rooted in relentless innovation and a passion for music reproduction, evolving from early breakthroughs in speaker crossovers to sophisticated modern systems.

The brand specializes exclusively in loudspeakers and subwoofers, eschewing amplifiers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables. Its products emphasize natural, uncolored sound through proprietary engineering, such as advanced driver integration and enclosure designs honed over years of research. Standouts like the EVO1 series exemplify this focus, delivering compact yet authoritative performance that prioritizes realism over fleeting trends.

VAF occupies a niche high-end position, revered among discerning Australian audiophiles for its no-compromise approach and value-driven excellence. Far from mainstream hype, it appeals to knowledgeable buyers seeking authentic musicality without gimmicks, backed by a reputation for world-class performance at competitive prices. This boutique status ensures enduring appeal in a market favoring substance over spectacle.
