This is the classic! Technics SL1200-MkII. Favorite of DJs for decades. This one is in excellent working order but has some wear and tear visually. The cover no longer has the tabs that hold it in place over the turntable. You can set it on top, but it won't hold itself open. There is a very nice Grado cartridge installed. I don't know the exact model, but it sounds amazing.
Compared with the obvious alternative of stretching to a cleaner or more fully sorted deck in the US$1,159 median zone, US$700 lands squarely at the 25th percentile of recent comps and is a strong buy rather than a merely fair ask. It is not just “acceptable for the model”; it is priced at the low end of the current used spread, with meaningful room before you’re paying typical market money.
That makes sense for a Technics SL-1200MK2: it is one of the classic direct-drive workhorses, valued for torque, speed stability, and long-term serviceability. At this price, the upside is in getting the core platform cheaply and then judging condition, since a clean, original, well-maintained unit can be a keep-forever table. I’d still want to confirm the tonearm, pitch control, feet, dust cover, and that it holds speed properly, but at US$700 those checks are about protecting a bargain, not chasing a problem.
