Seller's Description

• Overview – The Von Schweikert VR-35 Speakers, marketed as the VR-35 Export Deluxe, are floorstanding loudspeakers designed to sit close to the rear wall, built with Danish-made Scan-Speak drivers and assembled at the company’s California factory.

• Key Technology – A quasi-transmission-line-loaded 10-inch woofer fires toward the rear wall to reinforce bass, paired with two 6-inch midrange drivers and a 1-inch Dual Ring tweeter, all crossed over with a first-order network using Mundorf and Erse parts.

• Performance – SoundStage! called it a remarkable loudspeaker that handled all musical genres with aplomb, with owners describing outstanding, well-controlled bass and a wide, enveloping soundstage once properly positioned relative to the rear wall.

• Specs – The Von Schweikert VR-35 Speakers offer a frequency response of 25Hz–30kHz (±3dB), sensitivity of 90dB/W/m, and 8Ω nominal impedance (minimum 5Ω at 25Hz). Crossover: first-order, at 80Hz and 6kHz. Power handling: 35W minimum, up to 500W on musical peaks. Two sets of chromed five-way binding posts allow biwiring.

• Dimensions – Sources differ here: one detailed spec sheet lists approximately 1270mm (H) × 406mm (W) × 305mm (D), with an 8-inch-wide front baffle tapering to a 16-inch-wide rear panel; an earlier published review instead lists a shorter 40-inch (1016mm) height.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a fair ask, landing a touch under the S$5,672 median and comfortably above the S$2,288 25th percentile, so it’s not a bargain but still solidly in the normal used-market zone for this speaker. At S$5,200 in very good condition, it looks sensibly priced rather than aggressive.

That makes it interesting for a buyer who wants a proven, revealing floorstander without paying top-of-market. Von Schweikert’s VR series is generally valued for a spacious soundstage, smooth tonal balance, and good bass authority for the class, and a clean pair can be very satisfying if you have the amplification and room to let them breathe. With a fair ask like this, I’d mainly check cosmetic condition, driver health, and whether spikes, grills, or packaging are included.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Von Schweikert

Von Schweikert Audio traces its roots to 1975, when founder Albert Von Schweikert began developing speaker designs in Southern California. The company was formally established as Von Schweikert Research in 1993, though Von Schweikert had been building and refining loudspeakers since the late 1970s. Born in Panama to a German father and Spanish mother, Von Schweikert brought an international perspective to acoustic engineering. Following the company's restructuring, it emerged as Von Schweikert Audio and has since become a cornerstone of high-end speaker manufacturing, now led by his son Damon Von Schweikert as President and CEO.

Von Schweikert specializes exclusively in loudspeaker design and manufacturing, positioning itself at the pinnacle of the high-end audio market. The brand is renowned for its proprietary Acoustic Inverse Replication theory—developed in 1980—which informs all speaker designs by decoding out-of-phase ambience signals to recreate spatial dimension. The product lineup ranges from the entry-level UniField series to statement pieces like the Ultra 7 Reference ($180,000 per pair) and the legendary VR-111XS ($750,000), a nine-foot-tall concentric-array hybrid loudspeaker completed in 2015.

Von Schweikert occupies the ultra-premium segment of high-end audio, commanding respect among serious audiophiles and professional studios alike. Albert Von Schweikert's theoretical breakthroughs earned him contracts with Lucas Film THX, Walt Disney, Steinway, and Mobile Fidelity, establishing the brand's credibility in both consumer and professional domains. Today, Von Schweikert Audio represents five decades of acoustic innovation, blending rigorous engineering principles with handcrafted manufacturing to deliver what the company terms "Visceral Fidelity"—a listening experience that transcends conventional hi-fi parameters.
