Our Thoughts RADAR AI

For a used DT 770 in good condition, €140 sits well above the recent used market anchor here: the median is €85 and the 75th percentile is €97, so this asking price is ambitious rather than a bargain. It would need something beyond the ordinary—like unusually clean condition, the right impedance version, or extras—to feel fully justified.

That said, the DT 770 earns its reputation for a reason: strong isolation, a lively but controlled sound, and rugged long-term reliability make it a staple closed-back for home, studio, and travel use. If the pads, headband, cable, and driver balance are all healthy, it can still be a good buy for someone who specifically wants this model; just negotiate hard unless the package is exceptionally complete.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Beyerdynamic

Beyerdynamic traces its roots to 1924 Berlin, where engineer Eugen Beyer founded Elektrotechnische Fabrik Eugen Beyer to produce cinema loudspeakers for the dawn of sound films. Born in St. Petersburg in 1903, Beyer relocated amid the Russian Revolution, pioneering dynamic drivers that defined early audio reproduction. Post-World War II destruction forced a rebuild in Heilbronn in 1948, with his son Fred R. Beyer steering the family-owned firm through decades of innovation until its 2025 acquisition by China's Cosonic Intelligent, marking the end of a century-long German heritage.

The brand excels in headphones and microphones, launching the DT 48 in 1937 as the world's first dynamic headphones—a staple for sound engineers until 2012. It expanded into wireless systems, conference tech, and professional monitoring gear, serving studios, broadcast, film, and now gaming. While early efforts included amplifiers and loudspeakers, Beyerdynamic prioritizes transducers over consumer amps, DACs, turntables, speakers, or cables.

Renowned for durable, reference-grade professional audio, Beyerdynamic occupies a solid mid-to-high-end niche, blending accessible pricing with studio precision that appeals to creators and audiophiles. Its century of milestones—from micing royalty to touring icons—cements a reputation for reliability and sonic purity among discerning hi-fi buyers seeking tools that endure.
