Compared with the usual stack of generic integrated amps at this money, this Rotel sits in a sensible spot: at €240, it’s just above the €229 median and close enough to the main cluster that I’d call it fair, not flashy. It’s not a steal versus the €206 lower quartile, but it is well within normal asking territory for a respected old-school power amp.
The RB-870BX has a good reputation for clean, muscular drive and a straightforward, no-nonsense presentation that pairs well with speakers that like a bit of current. For a clean unit, the appeal is in the build and the fact that solid vintage Rotel power amps still make very capable everyday pieces.
