That said, Canton’s older German-made boxes can be very rewarding—clean, lively, and easy to enjoy in a real room—and the cherry finish with matching stands will appeal to collectors who want a tidy, period-correct setup. If the cabinets are truly excellent, the drivers are original, and the stands are included as described, it is a nice presentation; just expect to negotiate hard unless provenance or condition is unusually strong.

Canton traces its roots to 1972, when four hi-fi enthusiasts—Hubert Milbers, Otfried Sandig, Wolfgang Seitkritt, and Günther Seitz—founded the company in the small German town of Weilrod, near Frankfurt.
