Timing matters here because this is a classic early-1980s Luxman direct-drive deck, so value depends far more on condition and completeness than on age alone. At US$424, the asking price sits around the upper-middle of the recent used range; that’s fair if it’s clean, fully working, and includes the dust cover, but it’s not a bargain unless the cosmetic and mechanical condition are excellent.
The PD-264 is well regarded for solid speed stability, a civilized auto-lift/return setup, and an easygoing, dependable presentation that still earns respect from vintage-hifi folks. The upside is that good examples are getting less common, so an original, well-kept unit with a healthy arm, intact cover, and a known service history is the kind of buy that can age well. I’d only push back if the arm mechanism is sticky, the cover is missing, or there’s no proof it’s been checked recently.
