Seller's Description

This turntable recently had the arm rewired and all of the capacitors replaced professionally. It works absolutely perfectly and sounds great. The Ortofon LM-20 w/ real 20 H needle is a great match because these tables only come alive with high compliance cartridges. It has a mechanism to lift the arm at the end of the record when it strikes an adjustable metal whisker. The whole design is actually really ergonomic and user friendly. There are 2 small cosmetic flaws on the dust cover, which are shown in the photos. The cover is otherwise in great shape. Zero dings in the rosewood plinth trim and no scratches on the aluminum. I have packing to ship it safely double boxed. I’ve successfully shipped several turntables with no damage.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Are you getting a fair shot at a well-liked classic, or paying too much for the name?

At US$650, this is a bit ambitious against your benchmark: it sits above the US$610 75th percentile, so I’d want either exceptional cosmetic condition, a fresh service, or notable extras to justify it. It’s not outrageous, but it’s priced like a strong example rather than a routine used one.

That said, the PD-264 has a good reputation for stable, low-drama direct-drive performance and a refined, understated build that still looks and feels premium. If this one is complete, runs quietly, and the auto functions work properly, it can be a very satisfying long-term buy; just make sure the dust cover, arm rest, and all automation are intact before paying top-end money.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Luxman

Luxman traces its origins to 1925 in Osaka, Japan, when brothers T. Hayakawa and K. Yoshikawa launched a radio equipment division within their Kinsuido picture frame import business, coinciding with Japan's inaugural radio broadcast. Initially importing components, the company soon pivoted to in-house manufacturing of transformers and switches, birthing the Luxman brand and establishing it as one of Japan's oldest electronic component makers. This heritage of precision engineering has endured through ownership shifts, including stints with Alpine and Samsung, before returning to Japanese hands in the early 2000s under dedicated Luxman Corporation.

The brand specializes in luxury high-end audio components, with a storied emphasis on amplifiers—both integrated and power models—preamplifiers, and receivers renowned for their warm, detailed sound. Luxman also produces turntables, CD players, tape decks, and speakers, alongside modern digital offerings like DACs, all handcrafted in Japan with custom parts and dual-mono designs for ultimate fidelity.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Luxman commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its timeless aesthetics, uncompromising build quality, and sonic refinement that bridges vintage warmth with cutting-edge performance. Classics like the 1970s CL-32 preamp and 1980s L-507 integrated amplifier fuel its collector appeal, while contemporary lines reaffirm its status as a boutique benchmark for those seeking "Ultimate Fidelity since 1925."
