Condition is unknown, and at US$799 this is clearly ambitious against the usual used market: clean, working examples of this model tend to show up around US$220-US$370, with serviced/refurbished pieces clustering roughly US$370-US$400. At that level, the ask is well above the typical ceiling unless it’s exceptionally original, freshly serviced, and comes with the remote and documented maintenance.
What makes it appealing is the DX-6870’s reputation as a heavy, well-built Integra-era player with strong transport quality and a polished, musical presentation that still has real appeal to CD collectors. If this one is truly mint, fully functional, and includes the original remote, it may still interest a dedicated Onkyo fan—but for most buyers, US$799 leaves too little room for age-related service risk and looks like a premium, not a bargain.
