Seller's Description

Linear Tube Audio MICROZOTL Pre Amplifier Rare opportunity to acquire a truly superb (possibly unsurpassed) preamp at significant savings.   First owner, purchased directly from LTA as a result of being blown away with its smaller predecessor, the mid-sized Microzotl MZ2 (preamp/integrated amp/ headphone amp) which to my astonishment outclassed in my (same) system an array of some highly esteemed preamps (incl. Prima Luna Evo 400, Consonance Linear 1, Audio Research Ref 1 & Ref 3).   This full-sized unit (being a preamp/headphone amp only) discernibly renders even higher level of refinement.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$5,900, this used Linear Tube Audio MICROZOTL sits just below the 75th percentile of A$6,080 but remains slightly above the median of A$4,597 for recent AUD listings, making it a fair, not ambitious, price for a well-maintained unit. While it trails the current Level 3 retail of roughly A$5,950, buying used here avoids new-unit wait times and offers immediate access to LTA’s revered pure Class-A, no-feedback design that delivers exceptional inner resolution and imaging.

This is a worthwhile buy for enthusiasts seeking a Maryland-crafted preamp that excels with high-efficiency horns, tweeter amps, and high-impedance headphones, thanks to its incredibly low output impedance and Lundahl transformer-coupled XLR input. The upside lies in securing a top-tier tube preamp at a value that respects the original owner’s investment; unless the listing notes missing tubes, questionable condition, or no accessories, treat this as a solid opportunity rather than a risky gamble.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Linear Tube Audio

Linear Tube Audio is an American hi-fi brand founded in 2015 by Mark Schneider, with roots in the long-running engineering work of David Berning and the ZOTL tube-amplifier technology the company builds around. It is based in Maryland and presents itself as a hand-built U.S. manufacturer focused on specialist two-channel audio rather than mass-market consumer electronics.

Its core product line centers on vacuum-tube amplifiers, especially integrated amps, headphone amps, and preamps; the brand is also associated with its ZOTL-based designs, which are a signature part of its identity. Linear Tube Audio is not known as a maker of speakers, turntables, DACs, or cables, and its catalog remains relatively focused compared with broader hi-fi brands.

In the market, Linear Tube Audio sits in the high-end boutique segment. It is best regarded as a niche enthusiast brand for buyers who value tube amplification, careful hand assembly, and technically distinctive design over mainstream scale or broad product breadth.
