This is a fair ask rather than a bargain: at £157, it sits above the £75 median and just over the £145 75th percentile for recent comparable used listings, so it’s slightly ambitious but not wildly off. It would need to be clean and fully working to feel justified at that level.
The Apprentice line is well-liked for compact, unfussy, genuinely musical performance, with decent phono input, simple operation, and enough current to make sense in a small room or desktop setup. If it’s tidy, original, and includes the correct power supply, it still has real appeal; at this price, though, it’s the completeness and condition that matter more than the badge.

Edwards Audio is a British hi-fi brand founded in 2009 by Kevin Edwards, who also founded TALK Electronics. It was launched with a clear aim: to design and manufacture affordable high-fidelity products in the UK, and its early identity was closely tied to British analogue audio.
The brand is best known for analogue-source and amplification products rather than a broad, all-purpose lineup. Its debut product was the MC1 phono stage, and its range has included turntables, phono stages and integrated amplifiers, with a strong emphasis on vinyl playback and companion electronics.
In the market, Edwards Audio sits in the affordable audiophile or value-driven boutique segment. The positioning is not high-end luxury; instead, it appeals to buyers who want UK-made, enthusiast-focused hi-fi with sensible pricing and a straightforward design philosophy. Its reputation is strongest among listeners looking for British analogue performance without entering specialist collector or statement-product territory.
